XPify your IDE

When you use the VB6 IDE in XP, you get controls and graphics with the obsolete appearance (a la Windows 2000).

A common and universally know trick is to add a manifest file to the executable you want to appear using the modern XP themes.
All you need is take this file, and copy it in the directory where is the vb6.exe executable file.

The IDE will gain a brand new aspect, while not perfect.

Why to develop using Visual Basic 6 today?

Someone, and may be Microsoft people, may wonder why in these day there is still someone involved in Visual Basic 6 programming.

If you are reading this, may be you know the answer, or at least, your own answer.

In my case, I have to mantain and update some code that will not be ported to more modern or different environments.
So I'm writing this blog mainly to collect my own works and findings on this very special topic.

You may find lack of originality here and there, but I hope to help someone that suffers like me, mixing an old language and programming environment with the minimal requirements of contemporary operating systems.
